Key Features
- A six-inch printer: 6.59 inches (167.4 mm) of print width, media up to 7 inches wide.
- Runs from 2 to 12 inches per second at 203 dpi, so slow synthetic media is handled too.
- Wi-Fi 6 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and Bluetooth 5.1 are built in alongside Ethernet.
- An internal rewinder and label taken sensor are fitted on this part number.
- Full touch display, with the interface available in thirteen languages.
- 512 MB of flash and 256 MB of SDRAM, of which 256 MB is user-partitionable.
- Real-time clock fitted, so date and time stamps survive a power cycle.
- Takes a 450 m ribbon up to 6.8 inches wide on a 1-inch core.
- FCC Class B certified and Energy Star 3.0 qualified.
- Thermal transfer prints that outlast direct thermal, for asset tags and long-life labelling.
- Media and ribbon are sold separately, so stock can be matched to the job rather than bundled.
- Backed by a one-year Honeywell factory warranty on the printer.

Which configuration this is
Read the print width before anything else on this one: the PM65 is a six-inch printer. It prints up to 167.4 mm, or 6.59 inches, and takes media up to 7 inches wide. It is not a wider-badged version of a 4-inch machine and it does not share specifications with the PD45S or the PX45 elsewhere in this range. This matters because at least one major distributor publishes 108 mm as this exact part number's print width, which is the PD45S figure and is wrong by more than a third. The same page publishes 350 mm/s for the speed; Honeywell says 300. If you are comparing quotes, check whose numbers you are reading.
Speed and print engine
At 203 dpi the PM65 runs from 50 to 300 millimetres per second, which is 2 to 12 inches per second, and a single label can run to 4.8 metres. The wide range at the slow end matters on a six-inch machine, because wide labels on synthetic or difficult stock often need a slow, even pass that a printer with a 4 ips floor cannot give. Memory is 512 MB of flash and 256 MB of SDRAM with 256 MB user-partitionable. A real-time clock is fitted on this part number, so date and time stamps on labels survive a power cycle without a host to ask.
Interfaces and expansion
This is the best-connected printer in this range. Ethernet at 10/100, USB host, USB device and RS-232 are standard, and this part number adds Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in rather than as an option card. The radio covers 802.11 a, b, g, n, ac and ax, which is Wi-Fi 6, on the North America regulatory build. Bluetooth is version 5.1 per Honeywell's datasheet; a distributor page contradicts itself on the same screen and prints 5.0 elsewhere, so 5.1 is the figure to use. Both I/O expansion slots are empty, so parallel, RFID, applicator, industrial and WWAN boards remain available later.
Media and ribbon
This part number carries an internal rewinder and a label taken sensor. The rewinder takes up printed labels or liner inside the printer so an operator is not managing a growing tail, and the label taken sensor holds the next label until the last one is removed, which is what makes unattended print-and-apply work properly. It is not a cutter. If you need labels cut rather than rewound, that is a different part number. Media runs 51 to 178 mm wide at 3 to 10.4 mil, and ribbon takes up to 450 metres, 50.8 to 172.7 mm wide, on a 1-inch core in wax, mixed or resin.
Certification and build
The PM65 is FCC Class B certified and Energy Star 3.0 qualified. Operating range is 5 to 40 degrees Celsius at 20 to 85 percent relative humidity, non-condensing, with storage from minus 20 to 70 degrees at 5 to 90 percent. The printer measures 484 by 292 by 350 mm as Honeywell prints the axes. Honeywell does not publish the display size in inches for the PM65, so we describe it as a full touch LCD and leave it there; the alternative factory option on this position is an icon-driven interface, and this unit has the touch build.
Printhead life
Honeywell does not publish a printhead life rating for this printer, so we do not quote one. What Honeywell does publish is a warranty term: printheads are covered for one year or one million inches of print, whichever comes first. Those are different things, and the figure gets repeated as a life expectancy across a good deal of the trade. Treat it as what it is. In practice printhead life on any thermal printer is governed by the media and ribbon you run, the darkness setting and how clean the head is kept, far more than by any number on a datasheet. Media and ribbon are sold separately on this printer, which means you can specify stock that suits the head rather than inheriting whatever was bundled.
What is included
Honeywell publishes a package contents list for this printer, which is more than can be said for the other two families in this range. In the carton: the printer, a Wi-Fi antenna, a power cord and product documentation. The antenna applies because this part number is a Wi-Fi build. The power cord is the United States cord only on this code, and that is worth noting because the PX45 alongside it ships both US and European cords. Honeywell's own guide warns that cord inclusion varies by part number. Media and ribbon are sold separately, and there is no cutter on this configuration.
For wide labels, pallet placards and print-and-apply work that needs six inches of print and a wireless connection, the Honeywell PM65 PM65A11000030201 is a strong choice. Contact us to learn more or secure this solution for your business today.
