Honeywell's own ordering string for this exact part number ends compatible with RS232USBKBW cables, not included, and a presentation scanner supplied with a stand reads as a complete counter-ready kit when it is nothing of the kind. Without a cable the scanner has no host connection and no power, because it is host powered. Whoever raises the order has to add a lead in the interface the till actually uses: USB, RS-232 or keyboard wedge. If USB is the answer, the part number that already includes the right cable is 7680GSR-2USB-1-N, and buying that instead is usually cheaper than buying this plus a cable.

Colour and stand codes

The part number is worth decoding, because two of the segments do not mean here what they mean on the rest of Honeywell's range. The -2 is black, which is consistent. The colour code that is not consistent is ivory: on this family ivory is -5, as in 7680GSR-5-1, and there is no -1 colour variant at all, so the brand-wide rule that -1 means ivory must not be carried onto a 7680g part number. Honeywell publishes no scan rate for this model, because scans per second is a laser specification and motion tolerance is the imager equivalent.

Host connections

The scanner speaks USB, RS-232, keyboard wedge and IBM 46xx over RS-485, and which one it uses is decided by the cable rather than by a different part number.
