Two different wattages
Two numbers matter on this supply and they are not the same number. The 1050 W in the name is the total DC output at 54 volts. What HPE says about the PoE portion is that the unit offers up to 740 watts of PoE+ power, so the PoE budget it contributes to a switch is 740 W and the balance goes to the switch itself and to headroom. Neither figure is the draw at the wall. The smaller sibling in the same family, JL086A, is an X372 at 680 W offering up to 370 W of PoE+, and it fits the same 2930M and 3810M switches - so where the PoE load is modest it is the cheaper part. Its numbers belong to it alone and must never be read onto this one.
PoE switches only
This is the 54 VDC supply, and 54 volts is the PoE rail. HPE keys the connectors mechanically so that an X372 will not enter a non-PoE switch's supply slot, just as the 12 VDC X371 will not enter a PoE switch's slot. That is a hard incompatibility rather than a recommendation, and it means a supply ordered for the wrong switch class cannot be made to work with a bracket or an adapter. HPE's supported lists for this part cover PoE models only: on the 2930M, JL320A, JL322A, JL323A, JL324A, R0M67A and R0M68A; on the 3810M, JL073A, JL074A, JL076A, JL428A and JL429A. Both lists were confirmed on two independent reads.
The CX 6300 question
One compatibility claim is deliberately not made here. HPE's CX 6300 QuickSpecs do list this supply among the 6300-series power supplies, but HPE's CX 6300 Start Here guide places JL086A and JL087A under the 6300L PoE switches, while the 6300M PoE group lists only JL670A and JL758A. Since the 6300M switch we stock, JL661A, sits in that second group and ships without a supply, this would be the obvious cross-sell - which is exactly why it needs to be right. Four reads of HPE's own guide did not agree, so no 6300 compatibility is asserted on this page. If the target switch is a CX 6300, confirm the supply with HPE or ask us to confirm it with the distributor first.
Electrical input
HPE rates the input at 110 to 240 volts AC, drawing up to 12 A at the low end and up to 5 A at the high end, 50 to 60 Hz, with an operating range of 0 to 45 C. The low end is the figure to read carefully: it is 110 V, not the 100 V the X371 accepts, so a nominal 100 V feed is out of specification for this supply even though its sibling would tolerate it. The 12 A draw also deserves attention when a fully loaded PoE budget is planned on a low-line circuit, since that is most of a 15 A breaker on its own. As with the rest of the family, HPE publishes no dimensions, no weight and no efficiency grade for this part.
The power cord question
No claim is made on this page about a power cord in the carton, and that is deliberate. HPE publishes cord content for this part through localisation option codes on the base part number, and the codes it publishes are #B2B and #B2C for a supply-to-PDU cord, #B2E for a high-voltage wall cord, and #AC3, which means no power cord at all. HPE publishes no #ABA option for this part, so there is no manufacturer document describing what an #ABA carton holds. #ABA is a real code in US distribution and it denotes US English localisation rather than any electrical or mechanical difference - but on the cord specifically, ask us to confirm with the distributor rather than assume one is included.
