Not a drop-in
This is the warning almost no reseller publishes and it is the reason to read this listing before ordering. Zebra states that the extended capacity battery has a different form factor from the standard battery. It is physically larger, and a printer built around the standard pack will not close on it without the extended battery door fitted. That door is a separate part. Ordering the battery on its own for a printer currently running a standard pack therefore produces a battery that will not fit, and the customer discovers it at the point of installation rather than at the point of order. Check which door the printer has before this goes on the purchase order.
What it fits, exactly
Zebra's Mobile Printer Accessory Guide lists this pack for the ZQ610 Plus, ZQ620 Plus, ZQ610, ZQ620, ZQ510, ZQ511, ZQ520 and ZQ521, returned identically by two independently worded reads and corroborated by Zebra's Mobile Printer Batteries FAQ. What it does not fit matters just as much. It does not fit the ZQ630 or ZQ630 Plus, which ship a 6800 mAh pack of their own. It does not fit any QLn model: the QLn220 and QLn320 take the separate P1031365-069 extended pack. Those two exclusions cover the printers most likely to be confused with the supported list.
Why extended
Zebra's own framing is that it offers twice the capacity of the standard pack and suits higher duty-cycle applications. In practice the question is whether an operator gets through a shift on one battery. A driver printing delivery labels all day, a stock team running cycle counts across a large site, or a printer that lives in a vehicle and cannot be docked mid-round are all cases where the standard pack turns into a mid-shift swap and the extended pack removes it. Against that, the extended pack is heavier and taller, so a body-worn printer becomes a little more of a burden and the printer grows physically.
Smart battery
This is a smart battery rather than a plain cell pack, which means it reports its own charge state and state of health to the printer and to Zebra's device-management tools. That is what makes it possible to retire a battery that has aged out before it strands someone mid-shift, rather than discovering the problem in the field. What Zebra does not print against this part number, in any source located, is a nominal voltage or a watt-hour rating. Watt-hours in particular matter for air freight documentation, so anyone shipping these by air should ask Zebra directly rather than relying on a figure calculated from the ZQ500 user guide.
